The newest game in town, Xtreme Kingfish Tournament Series (XKTS), has joined forces with Special Olympics Florida. Together this Central Florida organization will work hand in hand with Special Olympics Florida, an extension of a global charitable organization helping those with intellectual disabilities. XKTS will host membership based offshore fishing tournaments targeting the King Mackerel. The vision of XKTS is to build a bigger and better tournament series in conjunction with Special Olympics Florida to include dining and entertainment. This will be a special night of giving and receiving for all at a number of our events. XKTS will also set a precedent with a “no entry fee” Champions Tournament at the end of the 2009/2010 Series Season.
XKTS has submitted paperwork to the State of Florida to file as a 501(c)(3) organization, which allows them to operate as a non-profit organization. This will enable us to go after grants and sponsorship to improve the organization and benefit it’s members in the future.
Beginning with the first tournament in August of 2009, XKTS will offer tournament promotions, as well as their own tournament series. The Officers of XKTS are dedicated to bringing back the family element as well as sportsmanship and fairness to the sport. A total of twenty tournaments are already in the works for the 2009/2010 tournament series season. The organization is aggressively pursuing sponsorship and members to build the organization to be the biggest in its' industry. XKTS is opening doors to help those in need and will even be sponsoring “Take an Olympian Fishing for a Day.” Also, unlike other associations in the industry, awards for Junior and Lady Anglers will be worthy of their efforts and skills.
The Officers of XKTS have much more coming and are excited to have generated over 11,000 hits to their one dozen posts in just the last month. All of this interest has been generated in just over one month on one of the most popular website forum for Kingfish Competitors. The numbers are increasing by the hour.
